Show off that “personal touch.”

Have you ever been to a wedding that was dressed in luxury from head to toe but without personal touches?

From my own experience as a bride (if we could throw it almost a couple years back), I wanted to have all of the details “just right,” from selecting the perfect dusty sage bridesmaid dress to matching the napkin color to the trim of our terrarium centerpiece.  While such decisions seemed so important at the time, I didn’t realize until my wedding day that it was the personal touches that shined through.  It’s what made our wedding ours.  It’s what made our guests feel the love we share… Isn’t that what your wedding day is supposed to be about, after all?

If you are looking for ways to personalize your special day, I’ve got you covered!  Here are a few tips to put your creativity to good use in the meantime.

  1. Show your story with the table numbers.  Share fun facts about you as a couple, baby pictures, places you have traveled- One couple I worked with had pictures of matchbook-themed table cards with special restaurants that are meaningful to them.  You want guests to feel a part of your journey.

  2. Do yourself a favor and say yes to favors!  I know favors can be seen as too traditional nowadays, but they are the perfect way to share a little bit of you along with a classy “thank you” to your guests.  Choose a favor that reflects and personalizes your interests!  If you are a foodie who lives for that cookie table, personalize those cookies with your new initials and wedding colors.  If the beach is your happy place, provide your guests with message-in-a-bottle favors with an actual message inside. There are endless ways to show off your DIY skills with favors.

  3. Pick a theme or vibe that suits you as a couple.  I’m not saying let’s get tacky and dress up your wedding like a birthday party.  Make it tasteful with just a few items here and there.  Perhaps you’re a party-goer and want to go bold- a neon sign with your new last name could serve as the perfect backdrop for photos.  Or maybe you are more low-key and enjoy the island vibe- an engraved glass bottle can replace a typical guest book.  Have your guests write YOU the messages this time.

No matter where the personal touches take you, keep one thing in mind-  Your wedding should be all about you and your love story.  So, show it off and simply make it yours!
